Meet Sr. Andrew Marie!

Meet Sr. Andrew Marie!

We'd love for you to get to know our Sisters! This week, meet Sr. Andrew Marie, originally from Houston, Texas, and currently stationed in our community in San Antonio! You can follow her on Twitter and Instagram at @SrAndrewFSP.

What is your name? Sr. Andrew Marie

Where are you from originally? Houston, Texas (Howdy!)

How long have you been a Sister? I’ve been a Sister for almost 10 years.

Briefly, how did you meet the Daughters of St. Paul? I first found out about our community through a vocation poster and then I met some Sisters when they came to visit the Catholic Student Center at my university.

What are some assignments you’ve had as a Daughter of St. Paul? I’ve been assigned in many different communities of Daughters of St. Paul. I’ve often carried out what we call Evangelization or outreach which involves traveling all over visiting parishes, schools, and conferences providing Catholic book fairs and giving talks on many different topics such as: prayer, media use, vocations. It is such a joy to meet so many people and share the joy and love of Jesus with them! I’ve also helped in our book centers and with our website.

What is one thing you have done as a Sister that you never thought you’d do? Last year another Sister and I gave a parish mission. It involved a whole week of talks and prayer for a whole parish! It was a beautiful experience that I never expected to do!

Do you have a favorite ice cream flavor? Cookies and Cream!

Are you a morning person or a night person? Night person!

Coffee or tea? Neither. I like water, really!

What is your favorite Scripture verse? “But when the time had fully come. God sent his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then an heir” (Galatians 4:4-7)

What is your favorite quote from Fr. Alberione or Mother Thecla? “The Lord lights up the lamps ahead of us, gradually, as we walk and there is need; he does not light all of them quickly at the start, when they are not yet needed. He does not waste the light but always gives it at an opportune time.” -Blessed James Alberione

Glasses or contacts? Glasses since the age of one! But now, contacts.

What advice would you give to a young woman in discernment? There's so much you could say! In addition to prayer, reflection, and dialogue with the Lord, I think it's important to get an outside perspective on your discernment, be that from a spiritual director, a vocation director, or someone else you trust. I'm praying for you!
